Staff Accountant

Loft9 has an exciting opportunity available for a Staff Accountant.  Reporting to Loft9 Leadership, the successful incumbent will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting functions and financial statement preparation.  This role will assist with streamlining processes to create efficiency.  As a member of the internal operations team, he/she will be a key advisor to Loft9 Leadership, providing timely and meaningful analysis and counsel concerning financial and business issues that impact the firm.

This is an internal, full-time exempt role and work will be based out of our Kirkland headquarter office.  Benefits include health insurance, paid time off and retirement benefits.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Monthly Bookkeeping

  • Manual entry of transactions, bills and invoices into Quickbooks
  • Classify transactions to proper GL accounts
  • Check balances against accounting receipt records
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Manage AP and AR
  • Create journal entries as necessary
  • Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements including Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Partner with Firm’s CPA in the filing of monthly and quarterly State and local returns

Payroll Processing

  • Use Ascentis Payroll and Time & Attendance system efficiently to process payroll. Work closely with HR to ensure it is processed timely and accurately.
  • Prepare payroll related reconciliations, account analysis and monthly accruals.
  • Partner with Firm’s CPA in the processing of payroll tax deposits, and related quarterly and annual federal and state payroll tax filings

Client Invoicing

  • Conduct monthly client invoicing process
  • Work closely with vendors and subcontractors
  • Maintain accurate vendor agreements and documentations
  • Ensure client deadlines are met

Process/Operations

  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts and prepare budget revisions as directed
  • Maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting procedures and controls across multiple accounting functions (i.e., General Ledger, payroll, AR/AP);
  • Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
  • Use accounting concepts, wide-ranging experience, and analytical skills to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Support the firm in meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue objectives
  • Support the development of financial accounting policies and procedures manual
  • Support Loft9 Infrastructure through the maintenance of computerized inventory control systems
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions
  • Develop organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations, establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives
  • Assist and/or lead special projects
  • Engage in activities dedicated to supporting Loft9’s culture
  • Other duties as assigned


Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is preferred
  • 2-6 years of accounting experience with a strong foundation of accounting theory and practical experience that includes general accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, and GAAP concepts
  • Payroll processing and administration experience, and experience handling highly confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to research accounting and finance issues, and provide guidance to others on these topics
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Benefits administration experience, including analysis and administration of employee healthcare plans, 401k plans, insurance plans, a plus
