Loft9 has an exciting opportunity available for a Staff Accountant. Reporting to Loft9 Leadership, the successful incumbent will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting functions and financial statement preparation. This role will assist with streamlining processes to create efficiency. As a member of the internal operations team, he/she will be a key advisor to Loft9 Leadership, providing timely and meaningful analysis and counsel concerning financial and business issues that impact the firm.
This is an internal, full-time exempt role and work will be based out of our Kirkland headquarter office. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off and retirement benefits.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Manual entry of transactions, bills and invoices into Quickbooks
Classify transactions to proper GL accounts
Check balances against accounting receipt records
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Manage AP and AR
Create journal entries as necessary
Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements including Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
Partner with Firm’s CPA in the filing of monthly and quarterly State and local returns
Use Ascentis Payroll and Time & Attendance system efficiently to process payroll. Work closely with HR to ensure it is processed timely and accurately.
Prepare payroll related reconciliations, account analysis and monthly accruals.
Partner with Firm’s CPA in the processing of payroll tax deposits, and related quarterly and annual federal and state payroll tax filings
Conduct monthly client invoicing process
Work closely with vendors and subcontractors
Maintain accurate vendor agreements and documentations
Ensure client deadlines are met
Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts and prepare budget revisions as directed
Maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting procedures and controls across multiple accounting functions (i.e., General Ledger, payroll, AR/AP);
Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
Use accounting concepts, wide-ranging experience, and analytical skills to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
Support the firm in meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue objectives
Support the development of financial accounting policies and procedures manual
Support Loft9 Infrastructure through the maintenance of computerized inventory control systems
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions
Develop organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations, establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives
Assist and/or lead special projects
Engage in activities dedicated to supporting Loft9’s culture
Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is preferred
2-6 years of accounting experience with a strong foundation of accounting theory and practical experience that includes general accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, and GAAP concepts
Payroll processing and administration experience, and experience handling highly confidential information
Demonstrated ability to research accounting and finance issues, and provide guidance to others on these topics
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
